Hungary: March 18
Tuesday, March 18
We returned to the trenches today, quite literally. There were more trenches to dig and gardening to do. Before that we had breakfast and you could tell the guys had cooked it; just kidding. It was hot dogs and bread, so you could make sandwiches with them, plus the usual drinks. After breakfast we went out and continued some of yesterday’s work by digging more trenches and planting a number of trees which will eventually grow into hedges along side the path. We also continued to work on the container and ended up painting all the metal parts.
The wood that will eventually be used for the walls of the container was stained as well. In the afternoon we also laid down a rubber pipe to provide irrigation. It doesn’t sound like much but it took all day.
For lunch we had pork vegetable soup and paprika chicken on noodles, and that was excellent.
Tomorrow, Wednesday and Thursday, will finally go to the school where we’re supposed to engage about 300 children (7 classes) with conversational English. We’re also supposed to work at the school. It should be fun.
